The next day was fabulous, too! We started our morning by taking a taxi to the Buda side of the city. (The Danube River separates the two halves of the city.) This is where Castle Hill is located. We could see the Parliament building from the hill! The Hungarian Parliament building is the third largest parliament building in the world. After we saw the church, we walked down the hill and across Chain Bridge. Chain Bridge was the first permanent bridge to be built in Budapest. It sort of reminded me of Tower Bridge, in London, although Tower Bridge is more elaborate. (London blog link here.) Back on the Pest side of the Danube River, we then went to the Synagogue. This is the second largest synagogue in the world, behind the one in New York. Before we left Budapest, we took a tour of the Opera House. It was opened in 1884, and shows off more than 7 kilograms of gold. They say that Vienna told Budapest not to make it bigger than Vienna's Opera House, but they didn't tell them not to make it more beautiful. And it is certainly something to see!
Do I recommend going to Budapest? YES. There is beauty, history, fun Segway Tours, and good food all in one place.

Last weekend my family got to go to beautiful Budapest! We stayed at a cute airbnb apartment. I LOVE airbnbs because you have your own space (living room, kitchen, bedrooms, etc). We have stayed at 3 so far, and they each have been very convenient to the city center. My daddy is the king of breakfast, so he cooks for us, which is always a special treat! It you ever go to Budapest, stay at Andi's loft apartment. Link here. First, we had our coffee looking at St. Stephen's basilica. Then, we went over to St. Stephen's and took the elevator up to the dome to see a panoramic view of the whole city. St. Stephen's is the largest church in Hungary. After that, we roamed the streets looking for a place to eat. I loved just looking at the buildings - the corners were curved and the architecture seemed Parisian - romantic. Of course, we had to take a Segway tour. It really is a great way to see the main sites because the tour is not physically exhausting, it gives the opportunity to see many sites in a short amount of time, and a guide helps you learn about the city. And the best part is that Segways are fun! On the Segway tour we passed by a market that reminded me of the Christmas markets in Berlin. So to end the day, we went back and ate a really good supper - buttery salmon and fried potatoes. So yummy! My daddy recently got into making videos of the day using the replay app, so here is the link to that. I forgot to bring shoes for cold weather, and didn't notice until we got past security at the airport on our way out of town, so we used this as an opportunity to buy new shoes from H&M. Best 10 dollars we've ever spent because my toes were cold, and my feet hurt from all day of walking in shoes that weren't made for walking all day. The reason I'm sharing this story is because there is a reference to it in the video.
