While we were staying in Strasbourg, my parents decided to rent a car and drive in the Alsace region, which borders Germany. Not all the towns we wanted to go to had train stations, so this was our only option in order to see the towns Mama read about in her guidebooks. The pictures above were taken in Colmar. I loved seeing the fairy-tale like houses lining the roads by the river. We went to quite a few towns and just walked around looking at the charming buildings. Some we just stayed about and hour, while others we stayed for half a day! I loved the flexibility of being just the family and having the rental car. We went up a mountain and explored a castle. It snowed while we were there! It was crazy! In the car, we saw vineyards everywhere! The fields were green, awaiting the grapes.
