A few weeks ago, one of my friends and her dad went to Vienna. Since some airlines offer inexpensive fights throughout Europe, my dad and I flew over there to spend two days with them. It was so fun to see one of my friends on this side of the ocean! Our hotel was right across from the big Cathedral, St. Stephen's. We could even see it from the room! It has a unique and colorful tile roof. First we walked through the city and found a lunch spot with AWESOME schnitzel. Then we had dessert at Hotel Sacher Wien consisting of their famous apple strudel and chocolate cake. Yum! After dessert, we climbed the dome of St. Stephen's. Whew! The city views were magnificent! To finish off the day, we went to an organ concert in St. Peter's church which was beautiful. The next morning, we decided to go to the butterfly gardens. The flowers were so colorful, and the butterflies were all so unique. We were able to get up close and personal with them - so much so that I'd never before seen a butterfly's detail quite like I did here as we explored the Vienna butterfly gardens. It seemed like the gardens were welcoming spring. Our last activity together was renting Segways!!! We got to see the oldest Ferris Wheel in Europe called the Wiener Riesenrad (German for Vienna Giant Wheel). It was the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world from 1920-1985.
I'm so thankful to my parents that they made it possible to see one of my friends in Europe! It was a very special time that we shared with our dads. It really made me look forward to even more get-togethers this summer!
